Rain Sleet Snowblobs and Bento

Winter is upon us here in northern Minnesota. Yesterday it snowed large wet blobs of icy stuff that was most unpleasant to feel upon the face and hands. My dogs were horrified to walk out on the deck and feel it slippery with ice.

My bento for today has nice fresh sticky rice and three beautiful umeboshi from my Madison Asian grocery haul; Persian cucumbers from Trader Joe's in Madison also, a rather flat omelet, yogurt, ginger jam and sunflower seeds for topping the yogurt, and a Snickers mini.

Here's the little peanut gallery that watches me prepare bentos every morning; they are hoping I will drop down some rice or crumbs:

  1. Your Cavalier Spaniels are adorable. I have two companians as well when I make lunch a gentle golden retreiver and a very fat siamese.
    What fun...

  4. Avie, they were so good. I read somewhere that Japanese people eat them while traveling to soothe their digestions; I think they do have some magic powers!!

  5. I love your bentos and I love your dogs! I have two long-haired doxies--one looks remarkably like your black-and-tan (only shorter & longer;).

I love their kitchen cleanup skills--no need to worry about all those little crumbs; I just have to make sure I swoop in quickly if I drop an onion.

  6. Toro: I adore long-haired doxies - they are the perfect cuddle-puppy. And yes, isn't it great to drop some morsel on the kitchen floor and see the morsel-patrol go into action??!
